The "Hydration failed because the initial UI does not match what was rendered on the server" error is a frequent challenge in modern web development. It happens regularly when implementing a custom Next.js hydration mismatch theme configuration or a dark mode toggle.

This error occurs during the hydration process, where React attempts to attach event handlers to server-rendered HTML to make the application fully interactive. For hydration to succeed smoothly, the static React tree generated on the server must completely match the DOM tree generated during the initial client-side render pass in the browser.
